Middle East

Meeting in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Miss Taylor (Social and Cultural Studies) attended the Connecting Classrooms Middle East\UK Contact Seminar from the 11th-13th May 2008. The school partnership is set up in order to develop and maintain links between a school in the UK and a school in the Middle East for the next 3 years. The partnership will work on a joint project that supports the curriculum and brings an international dimension into the classroom.

The aim of the partnership is to increase the understanding between young people of different cultures. The project hopes to prepare them for life in a global society, while stressing the importance of being a global citizen. Through the development of a joint curriculum project, we hope to enhance the learning and teaching experience of the students and teachers involved.

The seminar was successful and HTC has developed links with a school in Kuwait called the ‘International Academy of Kuwait’. This is a private school, with a mixed (race, gender and faith), multi-national student body that provides a British-style education using the structure of the National Curriculum.

The project is in the preliminary stage and will begin from September with the new year 7 cohort.
