Routes to Employment

University | Apprenticeship | Tertiary Evenings

The Routes to Employment Programme

We run three 'events' throughout the year to give our students as much information as possible to ensure that they are able to make more informed decisions about their next step in life.

The events are called 'Routes to Employment' evenings and outside agencies are invited into school to give information to help with choices at the end of Key Stage 4.

1) Routes to Employment – University – (including presentations by a range of professional people – explaining their route through University)
2) Routes to Employment - Apprenticeship, Modern Apprenticeship and Training
3) Routes to Employment – Tertiary – (VIth Form and FE Colleges)

Work Experience

Work Experience takes place in Key Stage 4 with a minimum of 5 days spent in the world of work. Most students choose their own placements, although some accept those provided by the Connexions team. All students are expected to complete a diary and an employer’s assessment form, both of which can be requested by interviewers when applying for college or employment later. The diary can now be completed online by logging on to www.work-experience-tw.co.uk although students must ask their form tutor for their user name and password first.

Any problems contact Mrs A. Horton on 0191 4564226 or ah@harton-tc.co.uk
