A group of 80 Year 7 pupils went on a four day trip to Paris this year. We travelled by coach and ferry, leaving early on the Sunday morning and arriving at our accommodation in the evening. It was a long journey but our trusty PSPs kept us entertained!
Our first day began with a guided tour of the Stade de France, a stadium in Saint-Denis in the inner suburbs of Paris. The Stade de France is the national stadium of France, built for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. It’s huge! The French football team uses it for almost every home game and it has a capacity of around 80,000!
Our guide showed us around the changing rooms, we had a sit in the stands, we saw the emergency room and came out of the tunnel like real-life football players do!
We also saw how the mechanisms work to reconfigure the stadium to house a running track for track and field events. It’s amazing!
Following our visit to the stadium, we headed for Montmartre, where we looked around the shops and wandered around the ‘Place du Tertre’. The ‘Place du Tertre’ is the heart of this area where lots of artists attract tourists to look at their work.
We also visited the spectacular Sacre Coeur, which stands on the highest point of the city. This beautiful area has featured in many films.
Later on, we enjoyed an evening meal in Paris before going on an early evening River Seine boat ride. We listened to a commentary of the sights along the river and took lots of lovely photos!
Our next stop was at the tallest building in Paris - The Eiffel Tower! We were surprised to see how tall it was! The sun was just beginning to set, making for fantastic photo opportunities.
The next day, we spent our time at Parc Astérix, well-known for its big roller coasters and water rapids. We absolutely loved it!
On our last night, we had a disco. After a great evening of dancing, we retired to our beds, sad at the thought of leaving the next morning.
The journey was tiring but fun – we sang karaoke and had a giggle! We had such a lovely time and lots of us thanked the staff for taking us. We were so thoughtful, we even bought Miss Mallaby a present for organising this trip for us! |
